The disparity in fortunes within the Ducati Marlboro team, present since the opening day of testing following the 2007 season, continued at the Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar to ensure that the day wasnt entirely joyful for the Italian outfit. Contrasting with Casey Stoners repeat of his maiden MotoGP victory at the Losail International Circuit, Ducati debutant Marco Melandri continued to experience difficulties in the race and finished outside the top ten.

Melandri so frustrated by his early 2007 performances on the Honda RC212V- is still experiencing teething problems with the Desmosedici GP8, a bike that gels perfectly with the style of his Australian team-mate but doesnt provide an entirely natural ride for the former 250cc World Champion.

It was a difficult weekend for me, admitted the Italian after taking eleventh place in Qatar. It was always going to be difficult with me starting on the last row.

I had a different setting for the race, so the first few laps I couldnt really ride well. After halfway I was just about last, and then I started to ride a little better, Melandri continued, before setting his targets for what he hopes will be a swift adaptation to his new machine in the cut-and-thrust world of MotoGP.

Im looking forward to the next race, and I hope I can improve round by round.
