The last time World Champion Casey Stoner took to the Circuito de Jerez in an official capacity, he left with a new sports car after winning the prestigious BMW M Award. Last week he was back performing laps of the Spanish track with a Ducati bike, but this time the machine was an 848 and the occasion the Bridgestone presentation of their Battlax BT-016 Hypersport tyre.

Bridgestone tyres were an integral part of the 2007 title winning package, and Stoner was happy to undertake promotional duties for the Japanese manufacturer alongside team-mate Marco Melandri and former MotoGP rider Jeremy McWilliams. With enjoyment and demonstrations of the new road tyre´s potential the only requisites, Stoner´s Wednesday in Jerez was a pleasurable one for the 22 year-old.

`Riding on track with Marco and Jeremy, for once without the pressure of the chronometer was good fun´, said Stoner. `My initial impressions of the tyre were good and so was my feeling with the 848 which has impressed me with the handling, the power delivery and the stability in braking. It has been a good relax after the excitement of the GP.

`Bridgestone has played an important part in my MotoGP career; they listened to me from the beginning, even if I was still young and I hadn't won MotoGP races, they gave back what I was putting in, so it has been a pleasure to join them at this event.'

Stoner´s next appearance at the track comes next Friday, in the opening practice session for the Gran Premio bwin.com de España.
