On the eve of the Gran Premio bwin.com de España at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit five of the riders competing in this weekend's second round of the season enjoyed some free time on Thursday afternoon, visiting a traditional Andalusian house and sampling some local culture.

Shinya Nakano (San Carlo Honda Gresini), Toni Elias (Alice Team), Marco Simoncelli (Metis Gilera), Sergio Gadea (Bancaja Aspar) and Bradley Smith (Polaris World) were all present as local guides invited them to try some tapas dishes and demonstrated the flamenco - the famous Spanish dance which is so cherished in the Andalusia region of south west Spain.

In the picturesque setting of the typical local house on the Plaza del Arroyo in Jerez, the riders were also shown how to pour sherry, the sweet wine which is produced in the city.

For his part, Briton Smith was reluctant to try the tapas due to the strict dietary regime which he follows to the letter, though he like his World Championship colleagues briefly gave the flamenco a try - with Spaniard Toni Elias setting a great example.

Nakano, meanwhile, was enthusiastic about the visit, commenting:

`I've been to Jerez many times and I'm happy to see the flamenco, which is from here in Spain. The Spanish Grand Prix is really good for everyone with so many spectators coming and the atmosphere and it's one of the most exciting races.´

On his expectations for the weekend the Japanese rider added:

`We've already done a lot of kilometres in Jerez and well, with Qatar, I wanted a good result from the first race and finally I finished 13th, which is not what we want. Qatar was at night, but Jerez is a more normal and we have a lot of data from here, so I think this should be a good race.´
