Absent from the 125cc practice and qualifying sessions in Jerez, Randy Krummenacher had a scare early this morning that led to emergency surgery in Spain.

The affable Swiss rider, who rides for KTM in the lower cylinder class, is currently undergoing an operation to correct damage to his spleen suffered in a mountain bike crash in his homeland last weekend.

Having trained and arrived in Jerez as normal, the pain of the injury only revealed itself in the early hours of Friday morning, leading Krummenacher to seek the advice of the Clinica Mobile at 8am. The medical staff, led by Dr. Claudio Costa, immediately directed the teenager to the Sanlucar de Barrameda hospital near the Spanish city of Cadiz, where a relatively routine operation will be carried out.
