The MotoGP front row for the Gran Premio bwin.com de España were in high spirits after taking their spots on the grid, with the star of the show a certain Mr. Jorge Lorenzo. The Fiat Yamaha rider had dominated the qualifying session, a fact acknowledged by even his fiercest rivals for MotoGP victory.

`For us the pole position and second in Qatar was a big surprise. Today we repeated the pole and we were very happy with the last lap, which was very good,´ noted Lorenzo himself.

`The first few laps I was tense, but on the last one I had a good feeling. We have good race pace, which is important, but there are some rivals who want to beat us. We´re ready to fight.´

Tellingly, acknowledgement of Lorenzo´s flawless afternoon was even made in passing by Dani Pedrosa, the Repsol Honda rider who competes with the rookie for the affection of the Spanish crowd.

`Lorenzo was very fast; the lap time was unbelievable,´ noted Pedrosa, himself second on the grid for his home race.

`It´s very important to be on the front row at this track. I wasn´t expecting to do so well, because Qatar was a disaster for qualifying, so I´m happy about this session.,´ added the 2007 World Championship runner-up.

Straight talking in his praise for his fellow Yamaha rider, Tech 3´s third placed rider Colin Edwards made no bones about his admiration of the markers laid down by the Spanish duo. He himself starts from the front row for the second race in succession, despite some nervous moments and a miraculous save.

`Congratulations to Dani and Jorge, especially Jorge for that lap!´ exclaimed the `Texan Tornado´. `1´38.1 or whatever it was…phew, that´s pretty quick!

My Yamaha and Michelins are working well; you can see how well the front tyre is doing because I pushed it a little too far. Luckily it let me get away with it. That was my race bike, I didn´t really want to crash it.
