Jorge Lorenzos manager Dani Amatriain was a proud man on Saturday evening in Jerez, his young MotoGP charge having set the Gran Premio bwin.com de España alight with a record lap of the southern Spanish track for his second consecutive pole in just his second premier class GP.

`I think it was a very, very good qualifying practice from Lorenzo and I hope it will be a good race for the Yamaha team,´ Amatriain told motogp.com. `For him also this is a good place because we are in Spain and it would be good to get a strong result here.´

The Lotus Aprilia team manager is one of the leading figures in promoting Spanish talent in the World Championship and he too is of course eager to see how the battle between top two qualifiers Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa pans out the talented young Spanish pair both having come through the ranks of the smaller classes into MotoGP.

`I think this is very good for the sport, for the Spanish public, for all the people who come here to watch the race and for television. I think its important that Spanish riders stay at the front in the championship.´

Meanwhile, Fiat Yamaha rider Lorenzo himself added, `The pole position and the second place in Qatar were like a dream, so its an amazing surprise for me to repeat that pole position here, and even better because its in front of my home fans!´

`Our race pace is good as well and I am feeling very comfortable on the bike and with my Michelin tyres. My rivals are very strong and will be trying hard to beat me, but I will definitely be fighting for the podium!´
