Smith makes early push in second 125cc practice session

Polaris World´s Bradley Smith was practicing his last-gasp fast laps in Jerez this morning.

Polaris World´s Bradley Smith was practicing his last-gasp fast laps in Jerez this morning something that will stand the Briton in good stead for this afternoon´s second 125cc qualifying session- and racked up a 1´48.088 lap of the Spanish track to head the opening timesheet of the day.

The 17 year-old displaced provisional poleman Nico Terol on his last of 22 laps, in turn ending the Jack&Jones WRB rider´s unblemished session record from Friday. Terol was just 0.090 slower than Smith´s hot lap, looking to hold on for his first pole position at his home race.

Danny Webb took further strides up the standings onboard his Degraaf Grand Prix Aprilia, placing third in the second free practice session, whilst there was similar improvement for current World Championship leader Sergio Gadea in fourth.

The morning was dominated by Aprilia riders, with Efren Vazquez and Simone Corsi completing the top six ahead of Belson Derbi´s Pol Espargaro and the KTM duo of Raffaele de Rosa & Pablo Nieto. Sandwiched between Espargaro and the Onde 2000 pairing in eighth was Mapfre Aspar rider and reigning World Champion Gabor Talmacsi.
