Staying on for testing in Jerez after a difficult weekend, Kawasaki have a new weapon in their inventory as they plot a return to the upper echelons of the MotoGP standings. `Team Green´ will bring back the screamer engine that has undergone intensive development in Japan, and one of their riders may get the chance to give his feedback on the new motor.

We are doing some engine and chassis tests here, but the main thing that we´ll be working with is the screamer. Maybe we´ll set this up with (Kawasaki test rider) Olivier Jacque and then get John Hopkins to try it out,´ revealed Yoshimoto Matsuda, MotoGP Project Manager for Kawasaki.

The screamer had made its debut at the opening preseason test of 2008, in Sepang, with Jacque and Tamaki Serizawa performing the initial analysis. Further revolution examinations back at Kawasaki HQ in Japan have seen the progression of the engine, with the time now seen as appropriate to let Hopkins loose on the latest version.

`We will not be giving it to Anthony West just yet; the thought is to try it with Hopkins first,´says Matsudo. `Depending on how it goes, we could have it ready for our regular riders in about a month.

`I want to make clear that we didn´t use the screamer in the 990cc era, but with the drop in power we have some advantage of using it for acceleration, but we have to balance this with braking,´ concluded Matsuda.
