A grand total of nine premier class riders were present at a special bwin.com Grande Premio de Portugal pre-event as Bridgestone invited media and fans to a press conference and autograph session at the beautiful Praca do Imperio in Lisbon´s Belem district on Thursday morning.

The MotoGP title holder Casey Stoner and his Ducati Marlboro team-mate Marco Melandri, Alice Team´s Sylvain Guintoli and Toni Elias, Kawasaki´s John Hopkins and Anthony West, Rizla Suzuki´s Loris Capirossi and Chris Vermeulen and San Carlo Honda Gresini´s Shinya Nakano were all in attendance as the local fans got a chance to secure some cherished autographs.

On arrival at 10.30am prompt the riders were grateful that the event was taking place under the shelter of two large canopies, but the typically changeable Atlantic coast weather was true to form as rain clouds soon gave way to a spell of bright sunshine, highlighting the beauty of the Praca do Imperio – a sprawling garden which was laid out in the 1940s.
