Provisional poleman Marco Simoncelli was the fastest rider of the final 250cc practice session in Portugal, recording a 1´40.723 lap of the Estoril circuit.

The Italian was over two tenths of a second ahead of Alvaro Bautista, the Mapfre Aspar rider with whom he collided whilst battling for the lead on the final lap in Jerez. Whilst the two would most likely prefer to be as far apart as possible tomorrow, their fast pace could mean another duel between the pair will be inevitable.

Hector Barbera was third fastest onboard his Team Toth Aprilia, a further five two tenths of a second quicker than series leader Mattia Pasini. Julian Simon was the fastest KTM rider in fifth, with sixth placed rider Alex Debon over a second and a half down on Simoncelli´s time.

Mika Kallio, Thomas Luthi, Hector Faubel and Hiroshi Aoyama completed the top ten, with what will be an important qualifying session as the riders look to improve their times looming on the horizon.
