The Ducati Marlboro rider clocked the fastest time of the morning- a 1´48.932- at the Estoril circuit, preparing for a race that will hinge upon what the weather brings.

If rain falls before or during the MotoGP race, then it will be advantage Bridgestone in the premier class. On a track not yet dried out from some overnight rain, the Japanese tyre manufacturer occupied the top five spots in the 25 minute session, contrasting with rival Michelin´s dominance in the previous dry outings.

Randy de Puniet was the highest placing Michelin rider in sixth, onboard the LCR Honda RC212V, whilst Kawasaki´s John Hopkins, second row starter Nicky Hayden, MotoGP veteran Loris Capirossi and Estoril poleman Jorge Lorenzo rounded off the fastest ten morning riders.
