Positive day for Stoner

Positive day for Stoner

The Pramac Grand Prix of China kicked off on Friday with Casey Stoner back on the pace.

Ducati Marlboro´s World Champion Casey Stoner looks to be back amongst the front runners at round four if Friday´s free practice times are anything to go by, as he attempts to bounce back from his Jerez and Estoril disappointments.

Stoner topped the timesheets in the afternoon session and was second quickest overall on day one in Shanghai, whilst his team-mate Marco Melandri ended up 14th on the timesheets after some technical issues with his 800cc Desmosedici.

Ducati´s MotoGP project director Livio Suppo told motogp.com, `It´s a good day for Casey and I´m glad to see him on top again. It was unlucky for Marco because he had some electronic problems in the morning and then again in the afternoon one of his bikes stopped. So it´s really impossible to judge him today.´

`I think he has proved to be getting better and better and Toni (Elias) is also improving. We just need everything to come together and we can do it again.´

Stoner himself added, `It´s nice to come back to a circuit where we know that the bike and the tyres work quite well and we are running near the front again which is making me a bit happier. In the last couple of races I have been pushing it to the limit and we just couldn´t get it to work, so it´s kind of a relief to come here and know that it is not me underperforming, we just didn´t have the package.´
