Dovizioso hoping for consistency in race

Dovizioso hoping for consistency in race

Andrea Dovizioso says he wants to improve his qualifying performances having earned 11th place on the Shanghai grid.

JiR Team Scot believe the hot temperatures experienced at the Pramac Grand Prix of China on Saturday caused a lack of grip for Andrea Dovizioso onboard his Michelin-shod Honda, after his lap of 1' 59.599 saw him qualify on the fourth row.

Andrea Dovizioso – 11th

`I do have to work hard tomorrow, but I think that my pace in the race has very high potential. There are lots of riders who I feel are on similar lap times, so there´s a group of us who can put on a good show. The crash at the start of the session didn´t hurt me at all as it was very low speed. We were at a high angle of lean and the front-end of the bike simply washed away. The only thing that the crash affected was a loss of time - which was important to us. The start will be very important, as I´m in an area of the grid, which isn´t the best, but also the first corner isn´t one where you can brake late and take many positions. Instead it´s a long corner so it´s difficult to do that. This is why my key target is a good rhythm in the race and to make the most of the good job the team has done on race set up over the last two days. We all realise that we have to do better in qualifying in the future.´
