Provisional poleman Bautista dictates 250cc pace in China

Bautista continues dominant form at Shanghai International Circuit with focus on race setup.

250cc provisional poleman Alvaro Bautista was once again on top in the second quarter litre free practice session for the Pramac Grand Prix of China.

The Mapfre Aspar rider is on fine form at the Shanghai International Circuit and, ahead of the final qualifying session, he kept up his fine race pace to record a fastest lap of 2´05.143. He was nearly seven tenths of a second faster than the second placed rider of the morning, Team Toth Aprilia´s Hector Barbera.

Series leader Mika Kallio, who like Bautista and Barbera is also pencilled in for the front row, was third quickest, ahead of Red Bull KTM teammate Hiroshi Aoyama.

Marco Simoncelli was over a second slower than persistent rival Bautista in the session, coming in fifth ahead of 2007 125cc race winner Lukas Pesek. Mattia Pasini, Julian Simon, Alex Debon and Roberto Locatelli completed the top ten.
