Rossi hails Bridgestone efforts for front row

Italian delighted with qualifying efforts, which helped him to second place for Pramac Grand Prix of China.

Valentino Rossi may have seen his pole record smashed by former teammate Colin Edwards in Shanghai, but the Italian was nonetheless highly satisfied with another front row position in China.

The five-time MotoGP World Champion took second place on the Shanghai grid, and has been on an impressive race pace in practice for round four of the World Championship. The winner of the first ever Grand Prix held at the Chinese circuit in 2005, the Italian will be one of the prime candidates for victory on Sunday.

`I´m very happy about the qualifying work we did with Bridgestone; we were able to fight with Michelin in the session, which means that we are getting better. Second place is good for tomorrow because the bike seems to be working well,´ analysed Rossi when reviewing the qualifying run.

His view was shared by onlooking Yamaha head Masao Furusawa, whose presence at MotoGP events is always welcomed by Rossi. The Japanese Executive Officer for Engineering Operations pinpointed increased familiarity with Rossi´s new tyres as the key factor in his improved qualifying performances.

`Valentino needed a bit of time to get used to Bridgestone tyres, but these three races have really got him accustomed to the way they work. All this and the bike is working pretty well for him as well, so we just hope for good conditions tomorrow.´
