Gresini takes positives from round four

Fausto Gresini is looking ahead positively after another weekend of progress in China.

With his new rider line-up of Shinya Nakano and Alex de Angelis sitting outside the World Championship top ten San Carlo Honda Gresini boss Fausto Gresini is hoping results improve as an intense series of European races commences.

Shinya Nakano´s second successive tenth place finish at round four was a slight disappointment after some good signs in practice at Shanghai, whilst Alex de Angelis´ 16th place saw him continue as the least successful MotoGP rookie thus far this season, but Gresini believes there are reasons to be cheerful.

`On the one hand the weekend was fairly positive as we moved forward and Shinya made some good steps,´ mused Gresini. `However, we were unable to make it count in the race after some good practice times, though obviously Shinya´s crash in qualifying did not help.´

`Starting low down the order in MotoGP makes things difficult and I was hoping for something better, but I´m quite optimistic about the upcoming races. We are now going to a few circuits, like France, which are slower and probably better suited to our bike,´ said the Italian former 125cc World Champion.

`Clearly we need to improve,´ continued the MotoGP team chief, `and slowly we are starting to do so, but at least we are on the way. Obviously I am looking for better results this year so we have to resolve some of the issues we have. We are trying to make improvements, step-by-step, but there is still plenty of hard work ahead.´
