De Puniet to run special livery at home race

Frenchman Randy de Puniet unveiled a special livery in Paris on Wednesday, one which he will run for his home race in Le Mans.

Competing in his home race at Le Mans this weekend, Randy de Puniet will bring further attention to himself with a specially themed livery on his LCR Honda RC212V. The Frenchman´s bike, as well as a one-off set of leathers, will be decorated with the blue, white and red of his national flag.

Said designs were unveiled on Wednesday evening at Paris´ Etoile club, in a presentation by the team at which De Puniet and team manager Lucio Cecchinello gave the media the chance to see the new look before the first on-track appearance on Friday morning.

De Puniet´s father, Arnaud, was also at the event alongside his progeny, joining some famous local figures in recounting the current MotoGP star´s rise through the ranks of the World Championship.

`I had special helmets for this race in the past but it´s really the first time I have a full special livery,´ notes the Frenchman, who last year led the race at Le Mans in the early stages of a flag-to-flag affair. He later came unstuck with a crash, but claims to have no preference as to what the weather will bring in 2008.

`Of course I would like to be at the front of the race just like last year, but this time I want to complete the race with a good result. We may have mixed conditions this weekend, but be it in the dry or in the wet, the conditions are the same for everybody and we have to be able to perform well regardless of the weather.´
