Bartholemy explains benefits of new Ninja ZX-RR fairing

Kawasaki boss Michael Bartholemy has described the advantages of a new fairing seen on the Ninja ZX-RR.

Kawasaki´s bid to step up their competitiveness after a somewhat slow start to 2008 is being boosted by the continual evolution of their Ninja ZX-RR 800cc MotoGP prototype, with John Hopkins and Anthony West riding with a new top fairing as of round four at Shanghai.

The Japanese team´s Competition Manager Michael Bartholemy gave motogp.com an explanation of the benefits of the update to the Kawasaki machine on the first day of action at the Alice Grand Prix de France, saying, `We use it to give us more top speed on the straights and also some more downforce in some areas.´

`We introduced the new fairing at the last race in China. It was a development that we did during the winter and we had already had some new parts before that, a new front mudguard, new side panels and now a new top fairing.´

When asked about the overall expectations for `Team Green´ at Le Mans he added, `We didn´t perform too well in China, it was quite a difficult weekend. I hope that the podium will get a little bit closer! Anthony has moved to Belgium since China and lives nearer my house, so we can go motocross riding and we´ve changed his lifestyle a bit to try and make him happier. It looks like he is getting a bit better and I hope he can keep it going all weekend.´

`With John he will try his best with Kawasaki and I hope that here we can show our power again and that we can get on the podium or into fourth or fifth position.´
