Rossi continues to shine in post-race French testing

Valentino Rossi is the fastest rider on track so far at the Le Mans circuit, where a selection of MotoGP stars are staying on for two days of testing.

The winner of Sunday´s Alice Grand Prix de France, Valentino Rossi has kept up his sterling form with the fastest matutinal time in post-race testing. After riding pillion to Angel Nieto –whose 90 victories he equalled in Le Mans- on his victory lap, Rossi was back in the saddle alongside a further ten MotoGP stars on Monday morning, and as of 2pm he was the fastest rider on track.

A 1´33.771 lap of the Le Mans circuit was the Italian´s early marker, undertaken on Bridgestone tyres. Rossi is the only Yamaha rider to stay on at the circuit, with teammate Jorge Lorenzo resting up after riding injured for the second successive race and the Tech 3 satellite team moving on to Clermont-Ferrand for Michelin tyre testing.

The lap was Rossi´s fifth of the day, and the Italian has been running short stints instead of any extensive outings. The closest rider to his time was Repsol Honda´s Dani Pedrosa with a 1´34.629 at the end of a five-lap stint.

Testing is scheduled to continue until 6pm local time, with a further day of action on Tuesday.
