Vazquez ligament damage confirmed by scan

Vazquez ligament damage confirmed by scan

Doctors have told Blusens Aprilia rider Efren Vazquez that his ankle injury is worse than originally thought, following his Le Mans crash.

Spanish 125cc rider Efren Vazquez has been told he has fractured a bone and ruptured ligaments in his right ankle, having returned to Spain following his crash in practice at the Alice Grand Prix de France.

Despite the diagnosis, confirmed by a MRI scan this week, Vazquez still intends to participate in this weekend´s second round of the 2008 CEV 125cc season in Catalunya.

He is expected to make a full recovery from the injury over the coming months, but believes he can already ride competitively, having commenced Sunday´s Le Mans race following his Friday crash, only to retire on lap one due to a technical fault.

Vazquez is currently 16th in the 125cc World Championship standings with 14 points.
