125cc class top guns set to do battle in Italy

With a new World Championship leader leading the way, the 125cc riders are ready to open the action in Mugello.

Mike di Meglio leads the 125cc standings after five exciting rounds of action. The Ajo Motorsport rider has added some exceptional dry results to his already formidable wet weather tally, although damp track in Shanghai and Le Mans left him in his element for a second and first place from the last two races. Eight points split the Frenchman's haul from that of Nico Terol, the Jack&Jones WRB rider who has been a revelation in 2008.

Terol´s teammate Simone Corsi lost the top spot in the standings after a DNF in China and thirteenth in France. A win in Mugello and both his rivals off the podium would allow him to reclaim the advantage on home soil.

Joan Olive, Stefan Bradl and Andrea Iannone head Pol Espargaro, Bradley Smith, Sergio Gadea and Gabor Talmacsi in the top ten. The latter has experienced an horrendous start to his World Championship defence, only finishing on the podium once from the opening five races after a catalogue of mechanical problems and crashes.
