Borsoi goes `hands on´ to understand Aspar 125cc problems

Borsoi goes `hands on´ to understand Aspar 125cc problems

Aspar Team Sporting Director Gino Borsoi undertook a two-day test of the 125cc RSA in Valencia last week.

In a bid to improve the performance of the 125cc RSA, Aspar Team Sporting Director Gino Borsoi took matters into his own hands last week by testing the bike in Valencia.

The ex-125cc rider was working with the troubled machine, with which the likes of reigning World Champion Gabor Talmacsi and fellow Aspar rider Sergio Gadea have experienced their fair share of problems so far in 2008.

`On Wednesday and Thursday we tested at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, looking at various engine parts for the RSA,´ explains Borsoi. `We didn´t test any new components; the closest that we got to that was the new fairing.´

Reviewing the first quarter of the season –not just in 125cc but in the 250cc series- the Italian cited more than a fair share of misfortune for the Aspar teams as a reason for their comparatively high standards not having been met.

`The situation up until now has been a bit…sad,´ he laments. `We´re always in front until the Saturday and then something happened on Sunday. Whether it be bad conditions, technical problems or just plain bad luck, we can´t savour the benefits of the work that we have done. This is especially true in 250cc.´

`We´ve had our problems in the 125cc class as well, especially at the start of the season. Little-by-little we´ve improved, but there are still some issues to be resolved. Hopefully Mugello can be the turning point.´

Regular Bancaja Aspar rider Gadea joined Borsoi in performing laps of the Valencia track.
