Action gets underway as rain continues at Mugello

More rain in the Tuscan hills meant Friday´s action at the Gran Premio d´Italia Alice commenced with the riders taking a cautious approach on a wet Mugello track.

The intermittent showers which greeted MotoGP in Italy on Thursday returned on Friday morning, as the free practice runs got underway at the Gran Premio d´Italia Alice.

After overnight rain left the Mugello track damp early in the morning, a downpour shortly before the start of the first 125cc run at 9am confirmed the necessity for wet set-ups and a cautious riding approach, at one of the hilliest circuits on the MotoGP calendar.

With the MotoGP session taking place at 10am, immediately after the opening single cylinder run, the activities of several individuals will be observed closely.

The early performances of championship leader and Italian racing idol Valentino Rossi, Repsol Honda wildcard Tady Okada with HRC´s still developing pneumatic valve engine and the Ducati factory and satellite riders at the Italian brand´s home track should all make for interesting reading.

Better weather is predicted for Saturday and Sunday, when the large Mugello crowds should be able to enjoy the MotoGP action in bright sunshine.
