Atmosphere builds at sunny Mugello

The ambience at the Gran Premo d´Italia Alice was already buzzing in the early hours of Sunday as those gathered at the Mugello circuit woke up to bright sunshine.

The anticipation of another classic MotoGP Sunday at Mugello was tangible in the air at the beautiful Italian circuit this morning, with the thousands of fans who camped overnight on site being joined by thousands more as the sun rose into clear blue skies in the Tuscan countryside.

The pleasant weather was a welcome change after the hitherto grey mornings at the Gran Premo d´Italia Alice.

Having qualified on pole Valentino Rossi will be hoping to perfect his dry race setting in the morning warm-up, with his MotoGP rivals doing the same after a limited amount of dry practice time thus far this weekend, as they seek to prevent The Doctor taking his seventh straight premier class Mugello win.

Likewise, 125cc and 250cc polemen Raffaele de Rosa and Hector Barbera will both also aim to cash in on their positions at the head of their respective grids, with Italian De Rosa having timed the first pole of his career to perfection at his home Grand Prix.

In the 125 class, British Polaris World youngster Bradley Smith will test his race fitness in the warm-up, having sustained foot, wrist and finger injuries in qualifying on Saturday.
