Race statistics for 250cc contest

The important facts and figures relating to today´s quarter litre class race at Mugello.

- Hector Barbera starts from pole for the third time in the 250cc class and his first since the Malaysian GP in 2006. Barbera will today become the youngest ever rider to reach the milestone of 100 Grand Prix starts.

- Alvaro Bautista maintains his record of qualifying on the front row at every race this year. Bautista´s victory last year at Mugello was his first in the 250cc class.

- Marco Simoncelli has finished on the podium on both previous occasions he has started from the front row this year.

- Mika Kallio´s best result from his six previous visits to the Mugello circuit was sixth in the 125cc race in 2006.

- Lukas Pesek will be starting from his best grid position (fifth) since moving up to the 250cc class this year. This is the best qualifying result in the 250cc class by a Czech rider for more than 25 years.

- Manuel Poggiali will be starting from his highest grid position (sixth) since he was sixth on the grid for the 125cc race at Qatar in 2005.

- Mattia Pasini won the 125cc race at Mugello in 2006 and if he wins this year he will become only the second Italian rider to have won in both the 125cc and 250cc classes at Mugello – the only Italian rider to have already achieved this is Valentino Rossi.
