125cc stars set for another thriller at Circuit de Catalunya

125cc stars set for another thriller at Circuit de Catalunya

The extremely close finish in the 125cc Mugello race reflects the lower cylinder category standings, in which there is a tie at the top between two title favourites.

Simone Corsi completed a trio of home winners in Mugello, at the same time reassuming the lead of the 125cc World Championship. The Jack&Jones WRB rider is level on points with previous leader Mike di Meglio, but by virtue of his most recent victory heads the overall classification.

Corsi´s teammate Nico Terol lies 12 points behind the leading pair, and a further ten ahead of Belson Derbi rider Joan Olive. Both are local riders in Barcelona, with the latter well and truly on home soil as a proud Catalan.

Stefan Bradl holds fifth place in the standings, ahead of second Belson Derbi rider Pol Espargaro. Espargaro became the youngest World Championship points scorer on his first appearance at the Circuit de Catalunya, back in 2006, and finished fifth in last year's race.

2007 World Champion Gabor Talmacsi, I.C. Team rider Andrea Iannone, Polaris World man Bradley Smith and another Spaniard, Bancaja Aspar´s Sergio Gadea, round of the first ten in the standings.
