Di Meglio confidence grows in dry conditions

Di Meglio confidence grows in dry conditions

Previously known as a wet specialist Ajo Motorsport´s Mike di Meglio is starting to get consistently good dry results in the 125cc class.

Finally looking consistently competitive this year, Mike di Meglio´s confidence is growing with every round of the 2008 season.

Despite losing sole leadership of the 125cc World Championship at the weekend, with Simone Corsi´s home victory in Italy putting the pair level at the head of the standings, Di Meglio was pleased to pick up more points at Mugello with a hard-fought fourth place.

Having won the Turkish GP in 2005 and having also featured on the podium at Donington that year, Di Meglio has had two frustrating seasons on Honda machinery since then - but his move onto a more competitive Derbi package with Ajo Motorsport has given him the tools to run with the leading pack once again.

In addition to his home victory in his favoured wet conditions in France just over two weeks ago at round five, he has been in the top five on three further occasions this season and is yet to finish outside the top ten in 2008.

After Sunday´s race at Mugello Di Meglio told motogp.com, `Last year it was easy for me in the rain but now with this year´s bike I can also push hard in the dry. I think we can stay in this position and I hope to be back on the podium in Barcelona.´

`My bike is perfect, I can push all the time and do what I want. So thanks to Derbi and all my team because we are doing a good job. We have a good base and I think we can be competitive at every track.´
