Pedrosa to make pneumatic engine decision on Thursday

MotoGP title-contender Dani Pedrosa has told motogp.com he will meet with HRC on Thursday morning to decide whether to run with a pneumatic valve engine at his home GP.

Ahead of the biggest date on his calendar Repsol Honda´s Dani Pedrosa will meet with HRC on Thursday to decide whether to run with a pneumatic valve engine in his RC212V 800cc prototype this weekend at his home race.

The Honda pneumatic valve engine was tested over the winter and made available for Pedrosa and team-mate Nicky Hayden at the beginning of the season, but the pair reverted to their standard spring valve engine as HRC went back to the drawing board with the new motor.

An updated version of the pneumatic valve engine was used with moderate success by Honda test rider Tady Okada in Italy last weekend, but immediate post-race analysis of the data gathered by the exercise was not conclusive enough to produce a decision from HRC and their factory riders as to whether race with it at Catalunya.

When pressed on the subject of re-introducing the motor at this weekend´s Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya, Pedrosa commented, `We will have another meeting on Thursday and we will try to get some more information to make our decision. You never know, the possibility is there, but we have to see if we will take it or not.´

On the significance of this weekend´s action at his local track, he added, `This race is important for me. It is close to my home and I would of course like to get a good result. I will try to enjoy it. It is an amazing weekend for me and for my family, my fans and all the people around me. I just want to enjoy it, have fun and have a good weekend overall.´
