Terol sets fastest 125cc time so far

Nico Terol clocked a 1´51.065 lap in the 125cc Saturday morning practice –the fastest lap of the weekend so far.

Continuing on from the Spanish dominance of Friday proceedings, an Iberian rider also opened up the action in the first 125cc Saturday session. Jack&Jones WRB´s Nico Terol took the reigns to head the session with a time of 1´51.065, just 0.004 faster than Ajo Motorsport rider Mike di Meglio. The latter is representing Spanish manufacturer Derbi, who are based in Catalunya, with a factory machine for Ajo Motorsport.

A completely Spanish team occupied the next two slots, courtesy of Bancaja Aspar´s Sergio Gadea and Gabor Talmacsi. The latter announced that he was `back in business´ after a podium in Mugello, and both pencilled their names in for a front row spot yesterday.

Dominique Aegerter, Sandro Cortese, Bradley Smith and provisional poleman Pol Espargaro also featured in the top ten, ahead of Stevie Bonsey and series leader Simone Corsi.

The peak times were faster than Espargaro´s pacesetting qualifying time from yesterday afternoon, indicating that the Spaniard may have to push even closer to the limit in the second qualifying session or, alternatively, hope for a deluge of rain threatened by the cloudy skies above the Circuit de Catalunya.
