Overnight rain leaves track wet for warm-up

Overnight rain leaves track wet for warm-up

Following intermittent showers on Friday and Saturday at the Circuit de Catalunya, more overnight rain ahead of Sunday´s race action has left water on the racing surface.

The MotoGP paddock awoke on Sunday morning to some unseasonal grey skies, signalling the possibility of further rain at the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya after more precipitation overnight.

While the teams have mainly practiced on a dry racing surface thus far at the seventh GP of 2008 the Catalunya track has seen a number of big crashes this weekend, with MotoGP star Jorge Lorenzo (Fiat Yamaha) and his 125cc counterpart Esteve Rabat (Repsol KTM) ruled out of action on Friday.

Meanwhile, the likes of Kawasaki´s John Hopkins and Polaris World´s Bradley Smith will compete in Sunday´s premier class and single cylinder contests despite carrying heavy knocks, with the additional likelihood of having to judge a tricky wet-drying track.

The teams and their riders get a final opportunity to tweak their race settings in the customary warm-up sessions this morning, before the 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP races get underway at 11.00am, 12.15pm and 2.00pm respectively.
