Stoner adds to credentials with fastest Donington warmup time

Casey Stoner topped the timing screen in the MotoGP warmup session at Donington Park.

Poleman, 2007 racewinner and reigning World Champion, the odds are stacked in Casey Stoner´s favour in the run up to this afternoon´s British Grand Prix. The Australian was the fastest man in the morning warmup at Donington Park, further stating his case for victory.

Stoner´s quickest lap was a 1´29.325 turn of a dried out track on board his Ducati Desmosedici GP8, some half a second ahead of Valentino Rossi. The Fiat Yamaha front row starter is competing in his 200th Grand Prix this weekend.

Off the front row following his Catalunya victory, Dani Pedrosa picked up the pace in the warmup session. He starts from the third line, but showed his potential to work through the field with the third fastest warmup time.

Andrea Dovizioso, Alex de Angelis, Colin Edwards and Nicky Hayden were all within a second of Stoner´s marker, with the latter set to give the pneumatic valve Honda RC212V engine its full-time rider debut.
