125cc pack get ready for German showdown

The 125cc World Championship holds its last event before the summer break when the series arrives in Germany, with a tightly-packed field set to duke it out in Sachsenring.

Heading to the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, Mike di Meglio leads the 125cc class field in a great year for the Ajo Motorsport rider. He holds a 16-point advantage over Jack&Jones WRB´s Simone Corsi, with both having tasted victory in the closely-contested category this season.

The only rider amongst the top four not to have won a Grand Prix is Joan Olive, currently in third place in the standings. The Belson Derbi rider is, however, always a threat for the podium, as demonstrated with his superb performance in both wet and dry conditions at Assen.

Re-emerging as a title contender in the Netherlands was Bancaja Aspar´s Gabor Talmacsi, the 125cc class´ reigning World Champion. The Hungarian took a stunning victory on the final lap last time out, and returns to the scene of one of three 2007 triumphs when the series passes through Sachsenring once more.

Nico Terol and home rider Stefan Bradl are, like Olive, chasing a first Grand Prix triumph in Germany in their respective best ever seasons. They round off the top six, whilst seventh-placed rider Pol Espargaro is expected to return to action this week after two races out with a collarbone injury. The top ten also features Bradley Smith, Sergio Gadea and another home rider hoping to do well, Sandro Cortese.
