Sachsenring Friday commences with perfect morning weather

The rain experienced on Thursday morning was nowhere to be seen in the early hours of Friday at the Sachsenring, as the riders geared up for the first day of action in Germany.

The MotoGP paddock awoke to pleasant morning temperatures and predominantly clear blue skies at the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland on Friday, with the riders preparing for their first free practice sessions of the tenth race weekend of the 2008 season.

In the absence of the injured John Hopkins a slightly depleted MotoGP field will take to the track for their first practice run-out at the customary time of 10am, with Kawasaki not replacing the Anglo-American until the visit to Laguna Seca next week.

The opening Friday MotoGP session will therefore see 17 premier class regulars lapping the Sachsenring, with Rizla Suzuki´s Loris Capirossi returning to action following three injury-affected rounds – the Italian due to test the condition of his healing right forearm this morning as he seeks to regain lost ground in the general standings.

Likewise, the pace of Jorge Lorenzo in the early session should make for interesting reading as he hopes to get back to full competitiveness having only recently returned to full fitness training – the young MotoGP rookie striving to return to battling with the likes of World Championship front-runners Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi.
