Pedrosa comes out strong in Sachsenring warmup

Dani Pedrosa was by far the quickest rider in the warmup session for the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.

Showing that a runaway victory for Casey Stoner might not be all said and done, Dani Pedrosa put in the fastest pace of the wet MotoGP warmup session at Sachsenring. The 2007 racewinner and front row starter at the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland made a late burst in the 25-minute session to head the timesheet, clocking a hot lap of 1´28.157.

The pace was varied during the morning run, with Pedrosa´s teammate Nicky Hayden in second place but some 1.441 down on his fellow Repsol Honda rider´s time, further back in third place, JiR Team Scot´s Andrea Dovizioso was an additional four-tenths of a second slower than Pedrosa.

The damp track levelled the playing field for the MotoGP riders who had previously been unable to breach the upper echelons of the timing screen, with Tech 3 Yamaha´s James Toseland and San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Shinya Nakano rounding off the top five.

Of the front row starters, Pedrosa was by far the quickest. Colin Edwards could only manage the seventh fastest time in the warmup, with dominant force and pole position rider Casey Stoner surprisingly some 3.460 off his Spanish rival´s pace.
