Talmacsi looking forward to huge support at Brno

Talmacsi looking forward to huge support at Brno

Although Hungary´s Gabor Talmacsi will have to wait until next year to genuinely ride on home soil, the visit to the Czech Republic is currently as close as he gets to a home GP.

After a problematic start to his title defence, the reigning World Champion Gabor Talmacsi has his work cut out to make up a 57 point deficit to standings leader Mike de Meglio in the 125cc class - but the Bancaja Aspar rider is determined to enjoy the challenge, starting with this weekend´s contest in the Czech Republic.

The tough Hungarian competitor started on pole but finished just off the podium last time out at Brno, in front of a huge 140,000 crowd at the Czech venue, with thousands of his compatriots having made the journey via Austria and Slovakia to support him.

Talmacsi expects more of the same this time out and would love to give his passionate fans something to cheer about. `This is the closest GP to my country and I have a lot of fans who support me here,´ said the man from Budapest. `I know maybe 30,000 to 40,000 people will come (from Hungary), which is great for me and the colours of my national flag will be displayed.´

He continued, `The start of the year was difficult, but I am very happy to be third in the standings. I think we just have to be positive, we have seven races left and of course I never give up.´

In addition, the World Championship is scheduled to return to Talmacsi´s homeland next year, a development which he is understandably delighted about.

`This is great for my country. It is a really big opportunity for me, for my future, and for the young guys, the next generation and for motorsports in general. I think we have to be very happy,´ concluded the 27 year-old.
