Yamano confirms Okada for Repsol Honda´s post-race test

Yamano confirms Okada for Repsol Honda´s post-race test

Repsol Honda Team Manager Kazuhira Yamano has brought in Tadayuki Okada for post-race testing in Brno.

Fielding a reduced lineup for the second race in succession –owing to the absence of Nicky Hayden from proceedings at Brno- Repsol Honda have drafted in test rider Tadayuki Okada for the two-day post-race test.

Okada himself has recently spent a spell on the sidelines through injury, but is fit and ready to stand in for 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden on Monday and Tuesday as the Honda factory team look to further develop their pneumatic valve engine and other novelties. Okada was the first rider to use the engine in MotoGP competition, when he made a wildcard appearance at Mugello earlier this season.

`Nicky isn´t here, and won´t be available to participate in the post-race test either,´ confirmed Kazuhika Yamano, Repsol Honda´s Team Manager. `He told me that he was going to aim to get back to 100% and return at Misano.

`We don´t want to stop development, so for this reason we have made an urgent request to Okada to stand in for the test next week.´

Yamano was quick to dispel rumours of friction as a result of Hayden´s heel injury, picked up whilst riding Supermoto during the summer break, emphasising that his participation in the X Games came with Honda´s blessing.

`Nicky asked HRC for permission to ride in Los Angeles, and we wanted him to be in peak fitness for the final part of the season. It´s a shame that he got injured, but it happens. He is sorry for what occurred, and I also want to add to the fans that we are sorry that we won´t have Nicky here this weekend.´
