Misano welcomes latest 250cc showdown

Misano welcomes latest 250cc showdown

How the standings look in the 250cc class as the series heads to Misano.

Heading to the Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, Marco Simoncelli is the outright leader of the 250cc class, with sixteen points between himself and Red Bull KTM´s Mika Kallio. The Metis Gilera man hails from Cattolica, just a stone´s throw from the Misano circuit, and will have a huge following spurring him on for a fourth victory of the season. Simoncelli is on a run of seven podium finishes, and the once profligate Italian has now become one of the most prolific riders in the category.

Brno racewinner Alex Debon benefitted from some updated parts in the Czech Republic en route to a second victory of the year, and rejoined the hunt for the title. He in turn holds just one point more than fourth placed Alvaro Bautista, with Team Toth Aprilia´s Hector Barbera and Polaris World´s home rider and 2007 125cc racewinner Mattia Pasini rounding off the top six.

Last year´s podium finisher at Misano, Hiroshi Aoyama, Yuki Takahashi, Thomas Luthi and Julian Simon complete the top ten in the standings.
