Suzuki pair target podium run continuation at Misano

Loris Capirossi and Chris Vermeulen have given Rizla Suzuki a welcome boost with their respective podiums two-thirds into the season, and look to continue or better this at Misano.

Rizla Suzuki´s star pairing of Loris Capirossi and Chris Vermeulen have found form over the past three MotoGP rounds, with podium finishes for both riders stating their case for a contract renovation. The Italo-Australian combination will be out to continue both the individual and team success of recent races this weekend at Misano, the scene of a second-place finish for Vermeulen last season.

`We had a good test at Brno and now I go to my second home race after a podium, and after finding some really positive things in the test that will help us for the rest of the season and in the future,´ says Capirossi, who got his hands on a 2009 prototype of the Suzuki GSV-R in testing after his Czech rostrum placing. The Italian is not going to settle for a just a top three this year, with the chance to become the first rider to win in the premier class with four different manufacturers up for grabs.

`It was great for me to get a podium, but I know we can start pushing for more and that must be the next step! Everybody is working hard and now that I am back to full fitness I can push as hard as possible to try to make it happen. I am really looking forward to racing for Suzuki so close to my home town, and I know we will see many people in the Rizla Suzuki blue around the circuit cheering the team on!´

Vermeulen is also gunning for victory in this year´s race, having become the first Suzuki top three finisher of the season at Sachsenring in July. If it rains in Misano in the style of last year´s downpours, the Australian will become one of the big favourites for the win on Sunday.

`I really like the Misano circuit and know that I can go well there - as I showed last year with a second place,´ says Vermeulen. `We found quite a few things at Brno both during the race weekend and certainly during the test. We were really pleased with the results from the test and now we must translate them to a race.

`I still need to keep pushing as I know I can be competitive and my crew and Suzuki are doing everything they can to make sure we are challenging the front guys from the start of every weekend.´
