Pasini explains home victory repeat chances at aquatic encounter

Mattia Pasini is out to emulate his 2007 125cc Misano triumph in the 250cc class on Sunday.

Home rider and last year´s local hero at Misano, Mattia Pasini returns to the scene of his memorable 125cc victory this week with the intention of repeating his success on the 250cc stage. The Polaris World rider expects to be challenging for the top places in the talent-packed quarter-litre category, with some improvements found at a recent test in Brno ready for use.

`(The Czech test) was good for us to try new parts on our bike, and we tried a new solution for the problems of the second half of the season; it will be possible that we use the new parts here in Misano,´ explained Pasini on a visit to see dolphins at the Oltremare aquatic park in Riccione. The Italian was raised in nearby Rimini, and delighted the home fans with his lower cylinder category triumph last time out.

`Last year was unbelievable. To win in front of my friends, fans and family was great. Now we must work hard over the weekend; I think that it´s possible to get a top result here, but it will be difficult with the level being so high in 250cc,´ warns the quarter-litre class rookie.

`If I can work the way that I want during the weekend, and the weather is favourable, then I believe that we will be in the first group.´

Pasini´s only victory in the 250cc class came in his maiden race, the season opener in Qatar. He is currently sixth in the World Championship standings.
