Barbera heads first 250cc Misano practice session

Hector Barbera was fastest out of the blocks in the 250cc class at Misano, with a 1´39.172 lap.

A Spanish quintet led off proceedings in the 250cc category at Misano, as Hector Barbera, Alvaro Bautista, Julian Simon, Aleix Espargaro and Hector Faubel made their presence felt in the opening quarter-litre practice session. Team Toth Aprilia rider Barbera was the fastest of the fivesome, who were only separated by Italian star and series leader Marco Simoncelli in second on the timesheet.

Barbera clocked a 1´39.172 lap of the San Marino track, over half a second quicker than Simoncelli, as the sun and pleasant temperatures made things comfortable for lower cylinder category riding. A second separated the top six.

Title challenger Mika Kallio propped up the top ten in the session, behind Thomas Luthi, Hiroshi Aoyama and last year´s 125cc home winner at Misano, Mattia Pasini. Brno racewinner Alex Debon was sixteenth after some early problems.
