F1 star Webber stops in at Misano

Formula 1 driver Mark Webber took in the first day of action at the Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini on Friday.

Australian F1 driver Mark Webber was enjoying all the action at Misano on Friday in the company of former World Championship rider Randy Mamola, who took the experienced Red Bull Racing star on a guided tour around the track.

Webber, who has twice stepped onto the Formula 1 podium, explained his passion for MotoGP, stating, `It started with Wayne Gardner and Mick Doohan. I followed Mick´s career very closely, with all his World Championships and he was an amazing rider for us in Australia. Now of course we have Casey Stoner on top and there are people like Jerry Burgess with Valentino Rossi and alot of Aussies (Australians) in the paddock. My Dad had a Yamaha dealership for 20 years and I have always loved motorbikes.´

On the insider´s perspective that Mamola was able to provide him with, Webber added, `It is interesting talking to Randy as he can explain some of the electronics things that are going on and I have been talking to some of the mechanics. It is very similar to our industry, Formula 1 is extremely advanced and so is MotoGP. It is great to have someone like Randy out here showing me people´s different riding styles and explaining how the bikes behave.´

When MotoGP visits Phillip Island for the Australian Grand Prix on the 3rd-5th October weekend Webber will be in attendance once again.
