Misano crowds awaiting race action

Early on Sunday morning the temperature was rising at Misano ahead of today´s races at the Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

There was no change in the weather conditions on Sunday morning at Misano with Italy´s Rimini Coast serving up more blues skies and bright sunshine, as the crowds flocked towards the circuit grandstands.

Although they have had more dry practice time than at most other weekends this year there are still several teams with last minute tweaks to make to their race settings in warm-up this morning, with local hero and second placed qualifier Valentino Rossi amongst those who are looking to make late improvements.

World Champion Casey Stoner will hope to cash in on his seventh successive pole and spoil Rossi´s party once again - just as he did last year – whereas the vast majority of the home crowd will be hoping The Doctor can take the win and extend his World Championship lead.

It promises to be an intriguing battle either way, with the likes of Michelin-equipped trio Jorge Lorenzo, Randy de Puniet and Dani Pedrosa also hoping to have a say in the podium placings from their respective advanced grid positions.

The MotoGP race at the Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini gets underway at 2pm local time.
