MotoGP Misano Sunday guide

All the race statistics ahead of today´s Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini MotoGP contest.

- Casey Stoner is starting from pole for the seventh successive race; the longest sequence of successive poles in the premier-class since Mick Doohan started from pole at twelve successive races in 1997.

- Valentino Rossi starts from the front row for the eighth time in 2008. Misano is the only circuit on this year´s calendar at which he has previously raced where Rossi has yet to win a premier-class Grand Prix.

- A win for Rossi would be his 68th in the premier-class and would equal Giacomo Agostini´s record for the most victories in the top class of GP racing.

- Jorge Lorenzo will be starting from the front row for the first time since he was on pole at the third race of the year at Estoril.

- Randy de Puniet has equalled his best qualifying result of the year which he achieved at Catalunya in June.

- Toni Elias will be starting from his best grid position since he was fifth on the grid at the Japanese Grand Prix last year.

- Dani Pedrosa will be hoping for better luck than last year at Misano when he did not finish the first lap as he was knocked off by Randy de Puniet at the second corner.

- Chris Vermeulen, who is making his 50th MotoGP start, finished second last year at Misano after starting in eighth place on the grid.

- Following his excellent race result at Brno, Shinya Nakano will be aiming to finish in the top four at back-to-back races for the first time since his debut year in the premier-class in 2001 when he was riding the two-stroke Yamaha.

- Colin Edwards has now scored just four points in the last three races – the worst sequence of three races since joining Yamaha at the start of 2005.

- Loris Capirossi will be starting at his 277th Grand Prix event - setting a new record for most Grand Prix events by any rider in the 60 year history of world championship motorcycle racing.

- Andrea Dovizioso has been the first rider across the line using Michelin tyres for the last three races.
