Di Meglio: `Misano crash motivates me for next race´

Despite his Misano mishap 125cc World Championship leader Mike di Meglio still has a 28 point advantage at the head of the standings.

Race winner Gabor Talmacsi and third place finisher Simone Corsi gained ground on 125cc front runner Mike di Meglio in the title race at Misano on Sunday, but Frenchman Di Meglio questioned Italian rider Corsi´s tactics after crashing out of the race.

Di Meglio hit the deck with nine laps remaining when battling for third place with current championship runner-up Corsi, before telling, `The race was difficult because I didn´t get a very good start. I started to make a comeback and I was passing Corsi. He didn´t want to let me pass and he pushed me outside. I don´t think he was correct. I tried to get back in there but was pushing too hard when changing direction and I crashed.´

Up until Sunday Di Meglio had enjoyed a highly consistent campaign, scoring points at every previous round - as the revelation of the 125cc season.

He had hoped for another good point-scoring finish at the Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, having qualified on the second row, but it was not to be on this occasion.

`I want to say sorry to my team because they worked so hard this weekend to get a good setting and then I crashed,´ said the Ajo Motorsport rider ruefully.

When asked whether he was worried that the Misano accident could have serious consequences in his quest for the title, Di Meglio answered simply, `Yes, but it just gives me more motivation. I want to do well at the next race.´
