Cecchinello, De Puniet and HRC reach agreement for 2009

On Sunday at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix LCR Honda announced their plans to continue in MotoGP in 2009 with Randy de Puniet as their sole rider.

LCR Honda have announced an extension of their project with the French rider Randy de Puniet and HRC for next year´s MotoGP World Championship.

The two-year contract for De Puniet for the 2008 and 2009 seasons was agreed at the end of the 2007 season and with the recent confirmation that HRC will supply the team with an RC212V for a third year in 2009, LCR have cemented their plans.

Team Manager Lucio Cecchinello stated, `I think that Randy and Honda have great potential. Our aim was to continue with Randy and thanks to HRC´s support we will cooperate together for next season as well. I am happy to say that we have retained all our present team staff for our 2009 project with Randy.´

The Managing Director of HRC, Kosuke Yasutake, added, `We are very pleased to continue our association with the LCR Honda team. They are a very well managed team with excellent technical and software staff and their RC212V is always very well prepared. We wish them luck in the 2009 season.´

For his part De Puniet declared, `The 2009 season will be my fourth year in the MotoGP class. Honda is working hard to improve the RCV machine and the LCR Team is very professional. They are like a family for me. We have got the potential to get good results and we will do our best to achieve our goals.´
