Moncayo takes first CEV Buckler win in Albacete

Derbi rider Alberto Moncayo was the victor in the 125cc Spanish National Championship (CEV) race at the Circuito de Albacete this weekend.

The fifth round of the Spanish National Championship (Campeonato de Espana de Velocidad – CEV Buckler) season saw Alberto Moncayo (Derbi) take his first ever win in the 125cc class.

Moncayo made a good start to the race and by the fifth lap he had taken the lead from Luis Salom who eventually finished third, behind his Aprilia team-mate Efren Vazquez who was second.

The result kept Vazquez at the top of the general standings in front of second-placed Salom, whilst Moncayo has moved up to third in the classification courtesy of his debut victory.

In the Formula Extreme category Carmelo Morales (Yamaha) is the new leader in the title race courtesy of his third consecutive win, which takes him above Javier del Amor in the table.

Del Amor concluded the race second after a battle with his team-mate Morales, to drop to second in the standings. Jose Luis Cardoso (Suzuki) finished third after some good work late in the 1000cc contest.

The visit to the Circuito de Albacete in Castilla-La Mancha was another highly successful one for Yamaha´s Angel Rodriguez in the Supersport (600cc) series, meanwhile, as he was crowned Champion with two rounds remaining.

Rodriguez has dominated every race in the class this year and took the win on this occasion by almost 15 seconds, ahead of Arturo Tizon (Suzuki) and Jose Luis Carrion (Honda), who were also on the podium.

The next round of the CEV season takes place in Valencia on 9th November.
