Poleman Simoncelli sets Sunday morning 250cc pace

In the 250cc class warm-up at Motegi on Sunday morning it was Marco Simoncelli who looked sharpest as he topped the timesheet.

A best time of 1´52.895 was good enough to put standings leader and poleman Marco Simoncelli (Metis Gilera) in front of his 250cc rivals on Sunday morning at the A-Style Gran Prix of Japan, as the quarter-litre class riders warmed-up in their normal slot in between the 125cc and MotoGP sessions.

The Italian rider was just 0.010s quicker than second fastest rider Alvaro Bautista (Mapfre Aspar), who starts today´s race from fifth on the grid.

Red Bull KTM colleagues Mika Kallio and Hiroshi Aoyama and Lotus Aprilia´s experienced Spaniard Alex Debon also featured in the top five.

Julian Simon (Repsol KTM 250cc), Yuki Takahashi (JiR Team Scot), Aleix Espargaro (Lotus Aprilia), Roberto Locatelli (Metis Gilera) and Mattia Pasini (Polaris World) rounded out the top ten.
