Vermeulen at one with nature on visit to Penguin Parade

Rizla Suzuki´s Chris Vermeulen showed his caring side when he helped release a penguin back into the wild following its recuperation at the Phillip Island Wildlife Hospital.

Phillip Island´s Penguin Parade had a special visitor early on Thursday when Australian MotoGP star Chris Vermeulen released a penguin that has been recuperating from illness in the local Wildlife Hospital back into its natural habitat.

Commenting on such a unique experience with one of the iconic local inhabitants, Vermeulen said, `It was very different! It is the first time I have actually seen one of them and the island is very famous for penguins. To have the chance to hold one of them was pretty cool!´

`I was with the biologist and she was weighing them and checking the eggs, which was something very different to motorbike racing but a great experience.´
