Glorious sunshine as race day commences

After Saturday´s exciting qualifying sessions in beautiful weather conditions there was more sunshine on Sunday morning at Phillip Island.

Race day at the 2008 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix commenced in fine fashion, with the 125cc riders warming-up, as of the later than usual 9.40am start, under blue skies on the Bass Straight.

The fans pouring into the stunning Phillip Island circuit endured some chilly morning temperatures at the southern Australian extremity, but the uninterrupted sunshine (which is expected to hold out all day) soon brought some warmth to the early proceedings.

After the clocks went forward overnight for summer daylight saving adjustments, some tweaks to the regular Sunday schedule in Australia today see the warm-up sessions all taking place an hour later than is customary, before the 125cc race commences at 1pm, the 250cc contest gets underway at 2.15pm and the main MotoGP event at 4pm local time.
