Poncharal marks big day for Tech3 riders

Poncharal marks big day for Tech3 riders

James Toseland´s 28th birthday and Colin Edwards´ 100th Grand Prix were acknowledged by the Tech3 Yamaha team at Phillip Island on Sunday morning.

Tech3 Yamaha boss Herve Poncharal led some special celebrations early on Sunday at Phillip Island, presenting James Toseland with some birthday fish and chips and introducing Texas Tornado Colin Edwards to an Australian cowboy on the occasion of the veteran American´s 100th Grand Prix.

Toseland and Edwards start Sunday´s MotoGP race from fifth and seventh positions respectively on the grid and Poncharal is hoping there will be further cause for celebration this afternoon with the podium being an achievable objective for both of his riders.

Poncharal told motogp.com, `Today, firstly, is a great day because I think we have high hopes for the race. Also, James is 28 today and a birthday on race day is always something to celebrate. On the other side of the garage we have Colin celebrating his 100th MotoGP class start. We didn´t want to do anything too obvious, so I think proper fish and chips for James was better than a cake and the Texan cowboy theme is something different!´
